Kronika Studio Filmowe was created by a group of film directors from the Documentary Film Studio in Warszawa, who wished to document the transformation then taking place in Poland. Andrzej Brzozowski, Bohdan Kosiński, and Maria Kwiatkowska were among the founding authors. In their works they followed the tradition of the socio-psychological Polish Documentary School. At the beginning, the company was managed by Andrzej Brzozowski; he was then replaced by Andrzej Piekutowski. Its current president is Paweł Kędzierski. In 2005 Kronika joined with the WIR Film Studio. Kronika has produced over 200 documentary films; several of them, e.g. “Miejsce urodzenia”, “El Misjonero”, “Cisza, ciemność”, were later awarded at various international film festivals. For years Polska Kronika Filmowa (newsreel) constituted another important area in company’s activity. Until 1994 the newsreel was produced weekly; later on it took form of a recording of important national events done on regular basis. Kronika SF has its own equipment, e.g. cameras, sound equipment, editing set, and archival material. Major productions:
