Studio Filmowe Kalejdoskop was established in January 1989, as one of the first independent film production companies in Poland. Prior to this date company’s owners worked at Wytwórnia Filmów Dokumentalnych i Fabularnych (WFDiF) in Warszawa. Kalejdoskop has produced over 200 film productions, mostly documentaries.

The company collaborates with distinguished film authors; in 2007 in cooperation with Pandora Film from Germany, Kalejdoskop produced “Nadzieja” / “Hope” directed by Stanisław Mucha and based on screenplay by Krzysztof Piesiewicz. Kalejdoskop’s production have received over 80 awards at various Polish and international film festivals. Its most famous production is Marcel Łoziński’s “89 mm od Europy” / “89 mm from Europe”, awarded at film festivals in Oberhausen, Leipzig, Marseille, Clermont-Ferrand, Bornholm, Villa do Conde, Berlin, Montreal, and Hamburg. This documentary film was nominated for Oscar in 1994 and in 1995 named best film of the year by the International Documentary Association (IDA) in Los Angeles. In 2008 Marcel Łoziński’s next film “A gdyby tak się stało” was on the so-called ‘short list’ of Oscar nominated short films. Films produced by Kalejdoskop have been presented in countries all over the world, e.g. France, Belgium, Germany, Great Britain, Canada, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Australia, South Africa, USA, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Brazil, Argentine, Mexico, Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, China, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Taiwan.

Kalejdoskop’s most important partners are: TVP, TVN. The studio has collaborated i.e. with ARTE (France), Pandora Fiolm, Telepool, 3SAT, MDR, SR, VOX (Germany), and Sasakawa Peace Foundation (Japan). Kalejdoskop film studio is a member of the International Documentary Association (IDA) in Los Angeles, USA.
