Canal+ was the first pay television in Poland and is one of the leading companies in the Polish media industry. On the Polish market since 1995 the company has diversified its offer by creating Canal+ Film, Canal+ Sport, and Canal+ Sport2 channels (including Canal+ Film and Canal+ Sport in HD). These channels are now available on over 80 cable television networks and on a digital platform, but can also be viewed individually and independently from the digital platform as a ‘Mulitpakiet’. Canal+ belongs to Canal+ Cyfrowy Company, which is a digital platform operator and a TV broadcaster. The company has also been a partner of the most important Polish festivals, such as Era New Horizons. It is a co-organizer of the most important event in the Polish film industry – the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia. For the last three years, in accordance with the Bill on Cinematography, Canal+ has been channelling its support to film production via the Polish Film Institute. Films co-produced by the company are later broadcasted on Canal+ channels within months after their cinema premiere and before they are available on other TV stations.
